Wish I had discovered the Illinois Prairie Path (IPP) sooner, but some finds take time, I suppose. The IPP is a 60-mile, mostly flat, mostly paved trail for walkers, bicyclists, and horse riders.
I forgot how nice these non-car trails are. No opening car doors to dart around, no roaring vehicles at your back.
Instead, mostly nothing. Few people out and about. It’s terribly peaceful, if peace can be terrible.

Drowsy marshes.

Lazy creeks.

And gushing ponds.
